*Hintergrund:*
Linux-Distributionen unterscheiden sich z.B. darin, wie Software-Updates
(on Gegensatz zu Security-Updates) installiert werden.
* Bei den meisten Linix-Distributionen werden Software-Updates mit dem
OS-Major-Release-Update gemacht.
* Bei Linux-Distributionen mit sogenanntem /Rolling Release/, werden
Software-Updates bei jedem Update, also i.d.R. täglich gemacht. Das
ist als ob ein Windows-User jede Software die er installiert hat,
von welcher eine neue Version erscheint, die neue Version sofort
installiert.
* Der Vorteil dabei ist, dass man immer die aktuellste Software hat,
der Nachteil ist, dass man auch eine Version erwischen kann, die
noch einen Bug hat, der noch nicht entdeckt worden ist. Dies war bei
mir mit dem Update von Thunderbird der Fall. Thunderbird hat bei der
OAuth-Autentierung etwas geändert, um die neuen Anforderungen von
Microsoft zu erfüllen - da hatte es einen Bug drin.
* Ich hatte zu Unrecht vermutet, dass die Ursache bei Microsoft liegt,
da mir der Update von Thunderbird nicht mehr bewusst war und da es
häufiger vorkommt, dass Microsoft Änderungen macht, die zu Problemen
führen. Das ist nicht per se eine Kritik an Microsoft - ohne
Veränderungen keine Verbesserungen und Microsoft macht ja mit dem
Umbau ihrer Services auf Azure-Technologie grosse Änderungen.

Guten Abend Uri
Ich wollte mich kurz bei dir erkunden, ob das Problem immer noch
besteht. In den Logs sehe ich fast nur erfolgreiche Logins an
Thunderbird, es gibt wenige fehlgeschlagene Einträge, welche aber
durch falsche Anmeldeinformationen wie Benutzer oder Passwort
verursacht wurden.

Ich hoffe du kannst uns in Abwesenheit von Martin bei folgendem
Problem helfen.
So wie ich es verstanden habe, wurde auf Seite Microsoft bei den
Enterprise Applications oder auf Seite Mozilla bei Thunderbird etwas
geändert, sodass neu für jede Installation von Thunderbird ein Admin
Approval erteilt werden muss.
Vorher war es so, dass nur einmalig Thunderbird approved werden musste
(und nicht für jeden Benutzer auf jedem Gerät einzeln).
Siehst du eine Möglichkeit, die Nutzung von Thunderbird mit den
ZHAW-Account (und Strong Authentication, d.h. MFA) wieder
grundsätzlich zu approven?
Falls ja, siehst du ein Sicherheitsrisiko darin?
